Will there be a monument in Bolton Kansas? This story begins with a 13 year old caramel skinned girl,Rocky, who gets adopted and moves to Bolton, Kansas. She doesn't have any friends until she meets this dog named Python. When Rocky went back home Python followed her. Rocky started working with her dad at the grain elevator.The grain elevator is a very dusty place, there were dump trucks filled with grain. The next morning Rocky and Python went out on a walk into an alley and see this station wagon. They walk up to the car and meet this man named Mick the artist for the monument. When Rocky aw Mick's drawing she was inspired to become an artist. Will Mick refuse to design the monument?
I like how the author describes how the characters look. He describes Rocky as a caramel colored girl with a stiff leg . I would not recommend this book to fifth graders because there is toomuch dialouge so I coudn't understand who was talking.
