5 starsDo you like an new twist on a fairy tale? Well, this adventurous princess that is having her spectacular 16 birthday ball but, doesn't know how lucky she is until she explores the real world. When Princess Patricia's chamber maid tells her all about when she was a poor peasant child, Princess Patricia wants to know what it feels like to be one so. . . Princess Patricia trades clothes with [ Tess] her chamber maid and goes off to discover the peasant world.
When Princess Patricia has to marry a noble prince at her 16th Birthday Ball and has to chose from a bunch of weirdos. One has dandruff that needs to be brushed off the shoulder, one that immediately needs to brush his teeth, and two brothers that are instigating at each other every minute. Now I honestly would not want to marry any of those noble men!
This two time award winning author Lois Lowery made this book one I would never ever forget. Her humorous twist which reminded me of Alladin, kept me entertained for the whole story. This book I highly recommend to 4th and 5th graders that love books with humorous parts and to kids that love to READ! I could not put this book down for a minute! Does Princess Patricia become a poor peasant or does she marry one of the weirdos chosen for her. Will she have a happily ever after or not?
