"Heat" by Mike Lupica, reveiwed by John D.

4 stars
Michael Arroyo grows up in New York City, home of Yankee Stadium. His only hope of ever walking on the Yankee field is by taking his Bronx all-star team to Little League World Series with his pitching. But, he is such a good pitcher that the other coaches don't believe he is really twelve years old. Michael has a problem though. He has no way to prove his age. No mother, father, or birth certificate which is stuck back in Cuba. If the people of social services find out, he will be separated from his only known family, his older brother Carlos. Can he find a way to prove his age?

This sounds like a suspenseful story and who doesn't love baseball? I remember a real life story about a boy who was pretending to be younger than he was and playing baseball. I wonder if this is where the author got his idea from? I want to read this story to find out if Carlos gets to play baseball and stay with his family. Mrs. Grabkowski

Aaron, this sounds like a really great book. When I saw the cover I thought, "Oh, another sports book." Then I read your review and I was amazed. Sure its sports, but I really think this is definitely different than those other sports books. This one is actually my type of book.
